FESTIVAL FILMETS 2011

The 37th edition of the Festival, which will be held from the 5th to the 13th of November, will have its competition shows in the two official Festival venues, the Zorrilla Theater and Círcol Catòlic.
The Festival will have the following competition sessions:
THE SEA OF FILMLETS: CINEMA OF THE MEDITERRANEAN.
CINEMA, MUSIC AND GASTRONOMY: QUÉBEC: There will be a projection of shorts of the Official Section, a concert of the group Nicolas Pellerin etles grands hurleurs  http://www.nicolaspellerin.com/ and a tasting of products of the traditional Québec cuisine.
YOUNG FILMLETS: Projections for primary and secondary school students.
FILMLETS CORNER: A meeting point for professionals that will take part in the round table WHO BUYS WHAT?. Amongst them, there will be Roland Nguyen (France 3) and João Garção (RTP) as speakers.
IN SHAPE: A selection of the best for films of the BCN Sports Film.
FILMLETS FOR THE COEXISTENCE: Shorts on social issues.
FILMLETS IN FAMILY: The traditional cinema session of animation for all the family.
MANIFESTO: Sorts related to politics and social demands.
LATE NIGHT SESSION: A session with the more cheeky and radical shorts.
HUMAN RIGHTS: Theme session.
BADALONA IN SHORT: Cinema of authors from Badalona.
FILMLETS IN MOTION: Sessions at the libraries and civic centres with a selection of Filmlets that won last year.
FILMLETS AT FNAC: Sessions of Catalan authors in competition.
As a big novelty of this year, we will offer the 1st MARKET OF THE SHORT CATALAN  www.catalanfilms.cat, a place for professionals (distributors, programmers, buyers, etc.), to view on-line the Catalan productions of the Festival, which have represented the Catalan shorts all over of the world during the last years.
Another of the new arrival of this edition is the Section VIDEOCLIPS, which joins the other genres: Fiction, Animation, Documentary and Experimental.
Besides, there will also be a MASTERCLASS with Danny Lennon, producer and distributor of Canadian cinema and representative of the SODEC (Société of développement des enterprises culturelles) http://www.sodec.gouv.qc.ca/fr/man, as well as a PRACTICAL WORKSHOP OF STOP MOTION ANIMATION with Anna Solanas and Marc Bank, of I+G STOP MOTION http://www.stopmotion.cat/, winners of the GAUDÍ prize 2011 to the best short.
As usual, the entrance is free (limited capacity).

Amongst the selected films for the Official Section of the Festival, there are films awarded at the international festivals of Sundance, Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Brussels and Locarno, and there are also some nominees to the Oscar and to the Gaudí prize www.academiadelcinema.cat, and some others awarded to the main European and Spanish festivals.
